Contabo is cheap because it is lean — and that shows in three places:
- Support is ticket-only. No live chat, no phone. Replies take hours to a day or two.
- Setup takes time. Most orders ship within hours, but during weekends or peak demand provisioning can take 24–72 hours because orders are manually verified against fraud.
- The control panel is dated. Functional, but far from DigitalOcean's polish.
There is also no managed layer: the OS, updates, backups and DDoS mitigation beyond the basics are your job.
